Description & Usage
Methylprednisolone is a steroid that helps in reducing swelling as it decreases the body's immune response. It can be used to treat many conditions in dogs and cats such as: inflammation, lupus, allergy, asthma, colitis, and particular forms of kidney disease. Methylprednisolone is the generic alternative to Medrol.
Precautions & Side Effects
Methylprednisolone can suppress your pet's immune system at high doses which can lead to increased risk of infection. Contact your veterinarian if your pet shows any sign of infection ( fever over 103° F, painful urination, lethargy, coughing, or runny eyes). Common side effects may include increased drinking, appetite and urination. Make sure to tell your veterinarian if your pet is currently taking other medications such as supplements, vitamins or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
This medication should be administered as per your veterinarian's instructions. The oral tablet can be mixed with food.
Store at controlled room temperature between 68° - 77°F
